Look through the material provided below. Look over the examples provided in the powerpoint slides and watch the videos. When you are prepared, answer the following questions:

1. How have the social values about beauty changed over time?
2. Provide two examples of the three types of norms: folkways, mores, and laws
3. Provide an example of a positive and a negative sanction for each of the norms you provided above.
4. What subculture groups do you belong to?
5. How is a counter culture different from a subculture?
6. Select a traditional American value (freedom, democracy, or equality). To what extent do you believe that these are real or ideal cultural values? Explain.
